day11 - visit in alghero

Good morning from my empty parking lot … the food thing was that it had absutely no mosquitos this night … slept very well … after all that wine and grappa yesterday :-) … time for a fast coffee now …

So my next target is Alghero southwards down the west coast. Driving along the gorgeous coast street I made a short visit in Argentiera which was till end of 1960’s a silver mine. Looked like a big lost place with some people living there left over. Had a nice breakfeast in a small local bar and strolled a bit around in the village and the beach …

After that break I continued my ride on this marvellous road towards Alghero. I had to get accustomed to all those beautiful views and not to stop around every corner … tough tough … and after 1 hour if driving I arrived in the area of Alghero where I checked-in into the first campsite available. It was called the “blaue lagune” and really was a huge resort with everything including pool and lots of very clean and new sanitair facilities. And they wanted to have 59(!!!) Eur for the places at the seaside. WTF … that's freaking expensive … so I took the standard spots which still were rated at 28EUR per day….

For my 5aste it was a bit too structured and symmetrical with fixed and numbered camping spots. And it was already a bit more crowed by other campers than o was used to ;-) …

Unpacked and mounted everything for a stay I went to the local restaurant to get something for lunch. Again there was nobody except me … maybe I was already a bit late at 14:00 but nevertheless they served me brilliant spagetthi vongole and a beer…. it really tasted wondrrful

After that I went for a short nap in the van and decided to take a bike trip to the city of Alghero which was ~6km away from the campsite. Once again I have to state how happy I am that I have my bike with me. It took me 20 minutes to arrive at the center / entrance of the old town, parked the bike and strolled around in the right streets of Alghero. Very interesting mix of styles ! You can see the catalanian influence in the buildings and the street names, which are written both in Italian and catalan

Lots of ancient mitary stuff around including old cannons and even huge slingshots. Haha reminded me of playing angry birds … lol … And after a tuna sandwich a some fresh water I headed back to find my bike and drove back to the campsite.

There I took a loooong shower and chilled the whole evening … and shame on me I forgot that today the soccer EM started and that actually Italy was playing and even won 3:0 against turkey !!!😂 That would have been fun watching at some public viewing …
